Character Development

We began to go through our character development, and as you can see at this point were are working out the characters personality and how he will act. This will all play apart in making our opening sequence more typical of the genre; plus it would be easier to portray the character if we construct him from the inside out.

We wanted to experiment with names so we came across this website which allowed us to look up action hero names to put in our film. Here are a couple of examples

We also got inspiration from other Action/Adventure protagonists to see their characteristics, personality and how they dress.

25 Word Pitch

Action/Adventure Camera Shots

These may be useful to think about when planning the storyboard for the coursework. These shots were taken from my old media account at my previous school. They were put on a blog so it can help us for the exam as it was action'adventure. due to our opening sequence being in the action/adventure genre. I believe that this is very useful to have.

Mood Board

Here is a mood board of things i find entertaining, which draw me and allow me to escape everyday life. Fantasy films are the most entertaining which i enjoy because it is different from reality. These films use creative story telling and great special effects which create a great films. Films such as: The Dark Knight, Captain America, Avengers and various other films that follow similar aspects. Also, Music and basketball play a very key part within my life and i will refer to both of them in everyday life. Music adds a sense of creativity that no other medium could match in a way as each piece of music is unique in how it is developed. Basketball is not typical within London, England which is one of the reasons I enjoy it because it is a low-key sport and only certain people play it. This mood board fully expresses who i am as person: as a Film buff, Sporty and enjoy the finer things in life. i feel in my opening sequence i can add one certain aspect of the mood board that can play a huge part in the film.

Opening Sequence Example

This is the opening sequence to the Smash film in 2012, Django Unchained which was directed by Quentin Tarnitino. The films opening sequence is unique but traditional at the same time. I will explore this.

Opening Sequence Analysis

Premliminary Project

  • Good use of all the different shot types we needed to use.
  • Editing was smooth in some parts creating continuity.
  • Storyline was clear and what was happening was obvious

  • EBI:
    • The editing could be smoother in some parts (In the beginning)
    • If we experimented with the editing maybe adding music and smooth transitions
    • Shot types could be explored more in depth.
